Jeremy Drake
So we have a feature film transferred to one giant scratch folder of pro res files. We want to edit this thing with two computers. We have 2 Raids with all the files transfered to pro res and we're wondering how to go about this. Maybe we can just edit sequences off our respective raids that contain all the same files and then send the xml files back and forth? At the end we want to relink the r3d files and send them to color for timing. We don't really have time to experiment and its frustrating but whats the best way to go about editing a feature with two computers.
Premium Member Paul Bruening Posted December 1, 2009 Premium Member Share Posted December 1, 2009 It's common to departmentalize the computers. For example: cut workprint picture on one. Then, as decisions are finalized for picture, start polishing sound on the other. As dialog tracks are filtered and refined, SFX is added, and music applied, the former workprint computer can be polishing output grade images including CGI, compositing, color grading, etc. During the day they act as workstations. At night let them render farm the most critical daily files.
