Ed Sieb
http://cgi.ebay.com/2-5mm-C-MOUNT-Lens-CCT...#ht_8273wt_1167Would this lens cover the 16mm format? Or even screw into a traditional C Mount? Thanks- Nick No reason why not. The C-mount was initially designed for 16MM cameras long before video camaras were designed. In fact C-mounts were chosen for video cameras because of convenience of size, focal distance and suitability of image size. The original 1 inch vidicon is very close in focal distrance, and image size to 16MM film.
Premium Member John Sprung Posted January 23, 2010 Premium Member Share Posted January 23, 2010 "C" mount video lenses will work on 16mm film. They're usually not particularly high quality, but you'll get a picture. Beware of "CS" video lenses. They have the same screw thread as "C", but the flange-focal distance is much less, so they won't focus without extension tubes. -- J.S.
Premium Member Charles MacDonald Posted January 23, 2010 Premium Member Share Posted January 23, 2010 Note that it has back focal length 5.5mm rating so it may not clear the shutter on some movie cameras. (not a problem on TV cameras as their is nothing in front of the sensor/Pickup tube in most of them. It is also fixed focus (which is fine) and does not appear to have any means of setting the aperture. (which is fine if you can shoot at f2 all the time  ) Charles (who has a box of TV camera lenses that will only work on TV cameras.) Leo Anthony Vale
http://cgi.ebay.com/2-5mm-C-MOUNT-Lens-CCT...#ht_8273wt_1167 Would this lens cover the 16mm format? The ad says: 2.5mm lens has approximate 140 degree field of view IF using a 1/3" ccd A 1/3" ccd is about the same size as a regular 8mm frame, thus it won't cver the entire 16mm frame. & the 5.5mm back focus won't clear most, if any, reflex shutters
