Red one to 35mm print

Hey I recently shot a short film on the Red one cam

The producer now wants to submit the film into some festivals

but some of these festivals only take a 35mm print

Ive never done a 35mm print before,so Im not sure how to go about getting it done?

 

how much could this cost for a 8 minute film with sound?

any help would be appreciated,Im totally new to this,and have no idea where to start?

Is it completely finished (conformed, color-corrected, etc.) to a 2K or 4K RGB... or a 24P HDCAM-SR master?

 

There are a number of places that do film-out work -- if you are in Los Angeles, you could talk to any number of companies with Red-to-35mm experience and the laser recorders. FotoKem, for example. But cost depends on if you truly have a finished master, hopefully in 10-bit LOG, though a Rec 709 master could still be filmed-out.

 

Since you are in Victoria, I would talk to the Vancouver post places first, like Technicolor, Deluxe, or Digital Film Central:

Most of these places will be doing an ARRILASER recording to 35mm interneg and then making a print.

 

If you want a direct print made from a finished digital master, no negative made, there is a Cinevator machine that does that - Technicolor in Los Angeles has one.

We have a Cinevator 5 film recorder at our facility in Santa Monica. The book rate for making a first generation print using the Direct to Print method for short format material is about $150 per running time minute. The cost is lower for feature length material. You will also need properly print mastered audio that is Dolby SR encoded. The quality of the print is excellent. It is limited to 2k but keep in mind there is no generation loss going from a negative to a print. Its a great solution if you only need a couple of prints. If you need five or more prints it becomes more efficient to do a traditional film out to negative. The Cinevator does that as well.
