IN-CAMERA CROPPING w/Canon 5D Mark II ??

If you use DX or similar lenses on a Canon 5D Mark II is there an in-camera menu cropping mode so you can eliminate the vignetting on still images without having to use Photoshop later?

What if you use these same lenses in the video mode? Can you do the in-camera crop for video too ?

Thanks.

i am pretty sure that on the 5D there is no way in camera to crop the image.

maybe in photomode but in video definetly not.

There is a little bit of cropping in HD mode (mostly top & bottom) because HD is 16:9 and the sensor is 3:2.

I'm curious - someone told me that on the 5D & 7D, when you shoot video instead of still shots, that it IS cropping: that it's only taking the middle of the chip as the HD image (the middle 1920 pixels, etc.), not using the full sensor & downsizing like I thought it was.

Which is correct?

Now I know.

bhphotovideo.com has an excellent slideshow on the features and drawbacks (there are many!) of the HD-DSLR cameras.

It points out how you can get moire patterns, because the camera is grabbing pixels from a grid, not using the whole sensor, then downsizing later.
