Fred Magilicutti
Is there ANY camera out there at all (camcorder, DSLR) that comes close to the "interchangeable lens" Scarlet by RED (if it ever comes out)? With the same sensor size? With the same HD 1080p quality? Able to record in RAW HD, or close? In a price range under the RED-One? Acceptable for major television production? Etc, etc, etc ?? Thanks. Premium Member David Mullen ASC Posted July 16, 2010 Premium Member Share Posted July 16, 2010 I can't think of any cheaper HD camera that does not record in some highly compressed 8-bit 4:2:0 format. Right now, the best camera in that price range is the Sony EX3.
Brian Drysdale
Right now, the best camera in that price range is the Sony EX3. Also used with a Nanoflash, which broadcasters find acceptable for HD.
georg lamshöft
The Ikonoskop A-cam Dll uses a modern 2/3"-Kodak-CCD and records UNCOMPRESSED (unlike RED) RAW 1080p. It should be available soon. I don't know if it's up to Hasselblad-like Swedish-craftmanship but it's made in Sweden and not Foxconn...
Premium Member Adrian Sierkowski Posted July 18, 2010 Premium Member Share Posted July 18, 2010 And it comes with memory/lens/batt... unlike other cameras.

Premium Member Stephen Williams Posted August 8, 2010 Premium Member Share Posted August 8, 2010 how about Arri Alexa, not sure if it is less pricey than red one Hi, The Arri Alexa is about 5 times the cost of a Red One.
Frank Glencairn
The DRAMA of Otis Grapsas should be in the 10000 range and does uncompressed on the same 2/3 Kodak chip as the Ikonoskop but records on cheap common "of the shelf" SATA HDs. It features some pretty impressive in camera curves, that come closer to film as anything I seen before - especially in skin tones. Frank
