Anders Hereid
Shot in 1080i (25p)/Avc Intra on the Panasonic HPX2100, Im struggling to get the footage looking acceptable in SD (PAL). Both Avid, Sorenson Squeeze and ProCoder makes the material soft, looking like DV. Anyone got this right? I got the best result exported from Avid same as source, downscaling it in MPEG Streamclip. If broadcasted in both HD- and SD-channels, but with 90& of the viewers on the SD-channel - I find it best to shoot in DVCPRO50 at the moment. But it doesnt feel right;-) Thanks Anders, Norway
Premium Member Phil Rhodes Posted October 12, 2010 Premium Member Share Posted October 12, 2010 I suspect at least some of the approaches you've tried are all using quicktime under the hood in any case. There are many tools available, including free stuff, which will do an extremely good job of rescaling your material. What format do you have the HD master in? Saul Rodgar
I find that real time (component out) down conversions from an AJA / Black Magic cards look really good. I do this often to deliver HD material to SD broadcast stations and record to DVCPro 50, Betacam, etc.
Anders Hereid
I've tried QT all the way. The material is mastered in DVCPro HD, AVC Intra 100. Cut in Avid MC 4.x. Do you have any names of free stuff I can try out?
