Premium Member Will Montgomery Posted December 3, 2010 Premium Member Share Posted December 3, 2010 I've had about 4 different Scoopic MS and MN cameras. One is a Crystal Sync version and it happens to be noticeably quieter than the others...almost enough to do sync audio. I didn't expect this, thought the all would be the normal sewing machine loud, just crystal synced to 24 fps. There was an original crystal sync mod that Canon had done for people by a company in Georgia somewhere and there's the mod that is still done by The Film Group (whom I spoke to and learned of the original Canon sync mod from; they were not impressed by that original mod). I believe this one is an original Canon mod and not the Film Group version. I don't really know if the crystal mod actually made this one quieter or it's just the luck of the draw. Has anyone else noticed a quiet Scoopic before? I would love to have my other cameras this quiet and was wondering if it can be done.
Premium Member Oliver Christoph Kochs Posted December 5, 2010 Premium Member Share Posted December 5, 2010 The cameras may have different noise levels due to age and maintainance. I do own a Sound Scoopic which is really quiet.
Premium Member Will Montgomery Posted December 6, 2010 Author Premium Member Share Posted December 6, 2010 BTW, anyone needing to re-cell their Scoopic batteries should check out a Batteries Plus+ franchise in your area. They just re-celled two Scoopic MS batteries while I waited for $48 each.
