Clive Alex
A shop in the UK is selling a Schneider 28mm f2 xenon lens in standard Arri mount. I contacted the shop and they said it may cover 35mm, but they're unsure. Did Arri/Schneider make a 16mm version or was there only the 35mm version. Looking at the picture they sent me, it's definatly an Arri cine lens not some lens conversion of a 35mm still photography lens.
Jean-Louis Seguin
The 28mm Xenon is for 35mm. Will also work with 16mm of course. Cheers, Jean-Louis

Premium Member Tim Carroll Posted February 2, 2011 Premium Member Share Posted February 2, 2011 Many thanks, he also has a Carl Zeiss Sonnar 50mm f1.5 in Arri standard mounts do you know if this will too. Most of the 50mm lenses in Arri Standard mount will cover 35mm. I know the Schneider 50 does, the Cooke Kinetal 50 does, and the one Zeiss I've seen does, don't remember if it was the Sonnar f1.5 though. kevin jackman
cool that it covers 35mm. anybody know if its very sharp? ideally I would like to have a set of 35mm covering lenses so I can use them for super16 as well unless the image will look like vaseline was smeared on the lens... Webster Colcord
I just picked up one of these 28mm Schneider's for my Arri IIB, the lens is a bit beat up but the glass is good and looks great thru the viewfinder. One thing I had forgotten about the Arri standard mount; (like a C-mount lens) you can disengage the lens locks and you have a built-in adjustable extension tube for macro work.
