James Heyward
i need a recommendation on a good tripod for my Nikon D7000 and redrock kit. I've been looking at http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/502679-REG/Matthews_M_25_M25_Tripod_System.html http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/537863-REG/Pearstone_VT_2500B_VT2500B_Video_Tripod_System.html i want something with a fluid head, a 50mm ball, and quick release plate i can attach to the redrock kit. i can spend up to 200. I've never heard of pearstone, but matthews I'm familiar with. i just want a good name brand set of legs.
Nathan Blair
The legs on the Matthews look really cheap... If you were to choose between these two, I would choose Pearstone. I've used this for the past 3 years, and I've liked it so far: Davis & Sanford ProVista w/FM18 Head
James Heyward
i think the one you recommended might be the one i choose actually. what if i was working with a $250 budget?
Jean Dodge
Try to get something used. Miller, vinten, oconnor, sachtler are all good. A tripod is not the same thing as a fluid head.. by the way. You will get what you pay for. $250 isn't going to buy you much when it comes to trying to pan a 400mm lens smoothly. Go to your local camera store and try some equipment from Manfrotto and compare price ranges. Again, go name brand and expect to get what you pay for.
