Simon j Rogers
Hi guys, I was wondering if anyone in the UK, or anywhere else for that matter, can shed some light on the qualifications you are expected to have as a spark? I want to get some electrical qualifications but Iv'e been looking at courses and they mostly seem specific to other fields of work. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Cheers Simon. Brian Drysdale
Any sparks I know working on productions are qualified electricians, many come from the construction industry, but there are other electrical industries. You could check with Panalux and find out if there are any film courses that allow you to qualify as an electrician for the film & TV industry. I also know a few who worked in theatre, but I don't know if they qualified there.
Stuart Brereton
I believe it's City & Guilds 2357, which deals with electrical theory, rather than the practicalities of installation, but as Brian says, ask Panalux.
