Premium Member Tim Pipher Posted May 7, 2011 Premium Member Share Posted May 7, 2011 Here are two low budget spots, identical except: 1. The first is shot 60i with a deep DOF 2. The second is shot 30p with a shallower DOF Any opinions of which looks better would be appreciated.
Stuart Brereton
Sorry Tim, but watching on a Progressive display, as 99.99% of computer users are these days, makes it impossible to see the difference between 60i and 30p. As far as the DoF difference goes, it's hardly noticeable. They both look fine.

Joseph Arch
The bottom video, the reflection is brighter on that one. I do not believe that has to do with dof.
Mitch Gross
It's like asking which one is "better", green or yellow? Better has nothing to do with it.

But I don't understand your analogy. I asked for "opinions" of which looked better. As a matter of fact, there are plenty of situations where an opinion of which would look better -- green or yellow -- would be useful.
Premium Member Stephen Williams Posted May 10, 2011 Premium Member Share Posted May 10, 2011 Thanks Mitch. But I don't understand your analogy. I asked for "opinions" of which looked better. As a matter of fact, there are plenty of situations where an opinion of which would look better -- green or yellow -- would be useful. The first one fitted better to the lighting & look. The shallow DOF was hardly shallow in any case....a compromise that failed. Does it matter either way? No not at all!
