DamianKa Share Posted October 29, 2011 Do you remember the scene when the girl is laying on the bed and he lights are getting darker and derker, but she has still has a strong eye light? how did he achieve this? any ideas?
Gustav Danielsson Share Posted November 8, 2011 A friend of mine actually owns camera light that Nykvist used. It looks like its handmade. Its constructed of a light bulb in one end of a rectangular box, in the other end is lamell curtain, that can dim down the ligth while keeping the correct color temperature. My guess is that he used that light and kept it at the same dimmed down level all the time. Just enough to get the glimmering the eye, but not effecting the rest of the face much. A dimmable led light would have the same effect.

Gustav Danielsson Share Posted November 10, 2011 Sorry, I don't have any pictures of it. As I remember, it's smaller than an inkie. Just a rectangular tube 20 cm long and less than 10 cm wide, with a strong light bulb in one end, tiltable blinds in the middle and the possibility to add filters on the the front end. Stephen Selby Share Posted December 11, 2013 I'm very interested in Nykvists style. I'm slightly confused as to his technique I'll post a seperate topic on it.
