Jason Svatos
I've done some searching over the past few days and haven't found any results, though forgive me if this is out there and Ive just missed it. Using an anamorphic lens/adapter on a 16:9 sensor will obviously produce a ridiculously wide image, that will require cropping to achieve 2:35. As the 5D offers a SD mode in 4:3, that would be the easier solution workflow wise I would imagine (considerably lower resolution of course but I may be ok with this. Has anyone done any anamorphic tests with the 4:3 SD mode on the 5D (or any other canon dslr I suppose)?
Premium Member Oliver Christoph Kochs Posted December 26, 2011 Premium Member Share Posted December 26, 2011 You can use one of the ridiculously expensive ISCOrama lenses. These have a 1.5x sqeeze. Very good filming in HD for scope aspect ratios. Will work with 50mm lenses up on a 5D and 35mm and up on a 7D or similar APS-C sized sensors. Premium Member Oliver Christoph Kochs Posted December 26, 2011 Premium Member Share Posted December 26, 2011 Has a 58mm thread, so it only works with the smaller Canon lenses.
