Guy Meachin
I've recently been doing some editing on my G5 and the system performance is quite poor! I suspect I may have a virus. What virus scanning software can be used for the G5? Aparently Norton is not compatible with G5's. Any ideas? Sorry this is isn't relevant to cinematography but the apple forums aren't great! Jeremy
There are hardly any viruses out there that target Macs. There are, but the percentage is close to probably .01% of viruses out there being a problem. I'd look elsewhere. Maybe a faulty / slow external hard drive? Running too many big programs at once? Any number of things.
Guy Meachin
I tried to send an Excel attachment I made earlier on and hotmail kept finding a virus on it! I assumed it could mean I have some sort of virus! Please excuse my ignorance on this matter! I know very little! :D
Premium Member drew_town Posted March 16, 2005 Premium Member Share Posted March 16, 2005 Hi, I had the same complaint with Hotmail. It wasn't a virus, it was Hotmail being stupid. Check out Alsoft Diskwarrior software to repair damaged files on your G5. Chances that you actually have a virus are slim. I thought the same thing until I confronted Hotmail about it. Good luck. Rob Belics
Go HERE and under the middle column called "Virus Protection" click on "Online Scan". It's free. Also checkout www.grisoft.com I don't know if their scanner works with Macs or not, though.
