Hours of fun with a Phantom Flex

A youtube video entirely devoted to the most derivative and obvious uses of high speed photography!

But it's quite fun:

Two questions occur to me:

- How on earth do they fund what I think is a Phantom Flex off a Youtube channel?

and

- How can they possibly use a Phantom Flex, when of course you need to be a super high-end expert worth hundreds of pounds a day! Where's their PhDs!

But I digress.

Hi Phil and anyone else who is reading.

we now do Phantom Miro m320s 12gb kits starting at £950 per day.

Its possible you may need to add some items but this really depends on what you need.

It has a phantom flex sensor, alas limited to 1920 x 1200 max but 24-1500fps at 1080p its an amazing new market for an "affordable" high speed camera.

Ok its not the Full Fat Phantom Flex which has evolved over time to be better and better due to upgrades, but i imagine the Miros will do the same.

You can also dry hire them, if your confident you wont need a technician, or of course we could supply you with one if u want to pay the going rate of £450 for a high speed technician.

all you need is the correct insurance documents send us a PO and its yours for the duration of the rental.

here is a link to our miro m320s page.

Slomo guys, really an amazing phenomenon they have done very well, i take my hat off to them for the hype they have created.

This is down to the fact that one of them, works or worked for another high speed rental company as a technician and he loves what he does and this is what he has done in his spare time, while the cameras where not working.

Admittedly they did have quite a bit of spare time to create the amount of content that have done so i am un sure how much work their Flex's actually do.

Either way Phil, it should be time to stop your need to pay a tech and to pay high rates for very good high speed equipment as here you have a very affordable package.

Hi Phil,

Gavin, who fronts "The Slow-Mo Guys", is one of our Phantom technicians here at GreenDoorFilms. We were the first to offer Phantom cameras here in the UK & Europe and we are now on our 5th generation of high-speed video cameras.

Gavin uses the Phantom FLEX cameras at the weekend, usually on a Sunday, our quiet day of usually busy week.

It's all part of our training programme to introduce the new generation of film markers to the world of slow-motion.

One of our latest television commercials for the London 2012 Olympic & Paralympic Games. Great use of a Satellite Rig.

Hope that above helps.

I'm kinda waiting for the slo-mo craze to die down. It's great and has it's purpose and I like that it's becoming affordable, but some of the stuff people are putting out there is just boring.

I always see "slow mo test!" videos and it's a 5 minute long video of nothing. I get it. I know what slow motion is. And I've already seen good tests that give examples with different lighting and strobing. Getting bored already.

What does a satellite rig look like? - I've never used one and I'm curious. I imagine it is what was used to create the vertical circle move around the actor.

It looks like a second part where the actor was possible standing on some plexi was cut in.

Where would one rent such a thing?

Thanks,

One of Love High Speed's recent commercials is Nike - 'My Time is Now'. Three Phantom Flex cameras from Love High Speed.

Over 100 hours of rushes was created on three Phantom's and three Alexa's, all transcoded on location and multiple back ups of over 40TB made by Love High Speed. Much of the Phantom was shot using a 3D wire rig with a Libra stabilised head.
