Stanly Kubrick
Hello, I was wondering if anybody had any recommendations for a 16mm camera that is quiet enough for sound recording, preferably under £1200. I have a Bolex H-16, but is rather loud and not much use for dialogue. Iv heard about people building blimps for them, but they seem rather cumbersome, making the camera controls a pain to access. Thanks Edited December 24, 2012 by Stanly Kubrick
Premium Member Will Montgomery Posted December 24, 2012 Premium Member Share Posted December 24, 2012 I bet you can find an Arri SR1 for that price range and it's a very quiet camera. You'd also have a Super 16 upgrade path for about $2200 or so. They take 400' mags but you can shoot 100' loads with those mags. And they really aren't as big as they seem from photos. There are plenty of Arri Techs still around in most major cities and that camera is well known in the industry. Rock solid and built like a tank. Premium Member Simon Wyss Posted December 25, 2012 Premium Member Share Posted December 25, 2012 Yes, to adorn oneself with borrowed plumes is disgusting. Less than 1200 Pounds? A used CP-16?

A used CP-16? Agreed...there are two used CP16Rs that are serviced on ebay right now for $800/each. Ill be picking one up at the end of the month if they arent sold. They look to be in good shape and seller seems legit.
