Shooting with video projection on cyc -- Potential problems/stuttering

Recommended Posts

Hello to all,

I have a shoot coming up, shooting using Sony F3 cameras, editing in FCP7. The set is a white 3-wall cyc; the 2 side walls being covered with floor to ceiling gray curtains and the back wall plain. As part of the set dressing the director wants to project images such as the below link onto the back wall during shooting.

Does anyone foresee any problems with this in post? It's been suggested that the video image would flutter and we should only project still images onto the wall as opposed to video. Thoughts/suggestions to make this work?

Thank you,

Interesting idea. Normally something like this would be keyed but perhaps projecting it might give an interesting effect?

You might be making work over just chroma keying it tho.

You don't say anything about the frame rate you will be shooting at but it's worth noting that the footage you linked to is 29.97fps.

You can try altering the shutter speed to reduce flickering if it arises.
