Desktop Scanner and 8mm film frame Final Quality

I am looking for a way to lower film cost for my plastic Leica and switched to regular 8. I will use Bolex as photograph camera and I shoot only 1 good picture per 100. I want to scan that frame with 40 dollars desktop scanner and if I scan highest resolution , would it be better than telecine ?

Thanks,

Umut

Since you're talking still photos, you're getting into still film scanners and a drum scanner would still be the gold standard. You'd have to cut out the frames you want to scan (maybe 6-10 frame block) and have a graphic design/print house that still has a drum scanner do it. You will get the best quality possible this way.

You could do a cheap telecine for a preview then isolate the shot you want on the actual film and cut those frames out for still scanning.

But, a $40 desktop scanner capable of handing transparencies may be just fine and would likely be better than taking a frame from a telecine.
