Which Runs Quietest at 24 FPS...SR3, XTR, or LTR?

Recommended Posts

When comparing the SR3, XTR, and LTR, which of these 16mm cameras is the quietest when running at 24 FPS? I think all of these cameras are generally regarded as running quietly, but I'm just curious if one model tends to run quieter than the others.

Thanks!

It's all in the tuning. Each mag will be different too. I've had to put my ear onto an SR3 mag once to verify it was running it was so quiet. All of those cameras will be just fine.

Yea, its all about the mag. Worst part is, if you get a rental camera, its hard to test the mags until loaded and running film through them. I've had mags which at the beginning of the roll made almost no sound and towards the end were squeaking under changed loads. I've worked with such poorly maintained equipment, it amazes me I ever captured anything! HA!

But yea, Arri vs Aaton? I'm an Arri guy... SRIII for the win! :)
