James Malamatinas
Hi,Does anyone have any suggestions for good, accurate articles or resources describing and explaining LUT's. I'd like to improve my understanding of how they all vary and the different kind of uses they have depending on production stage (e.g. monitor LUTs vs. LUTs used for Dailies). I've found a number of articles however the information seems very spread out so if there are some more in-depth, consolidated information it would be much appreciated. Thanks, James

James Malamatinas
Cheers Brian, I'll take a look at that site to see what information they have. I also found a good primer on LUTs here, it may be useful to someone else:http://blog.abelcine.com/2012/03/27/the-difference-between-luts-looks-and-scene-files/
John Miguel King
James, have a look at ACES while you're at it. I'm in the process of shifting my workflow in that direction cos of what promises to be more control and consistency.
Premium Member Phil Rhodes Posted March 6, 2014 Premium Member Share Posted March 6, 2014 I'm astonished that there's many productions in the London, or even in the UK, that need this level of work. What are you on, Sherlock or something?
John Miguel King
I can't answer for James, but I'll remind you that Warner Bros bought and entirely refurbished Leavesden Studios, and Disney owns Pinewood. And this is only the two bigggest players. There are many, many more.
Freya Black
Disney owns Pinewood. That's not true is it? I thought it was still basically British? Last I heard it was bought out by the Peel group (who also own Media City in Manchester) ???!!! Freya

Feature I was on a few months ago managed to get some stage time there cos Star Wars got postponed.

When I heard about Leavesden, my first thought was "why would they possibly want to do that." In fact my thought is still "why would they possibly want to do that."
