Lighting a beach scene at night with no generator

If the fire is big enough, you may not need to add flicker effects. I generally use a small tungsten lamp with 1/2 CTS or CTO on it to establish a base exposure, and let the fire do the rest. This generally works well for scenes where the actors are sitting close to a campfire.
