I looked at many slider dollies similar to the Dana Dolly at NAB 14... is there a universal standard for the distance between rails or does each manufacture just arbitrary choose a size?

Thanks,

I have the Rig Wheels slider, and I know the rails are closer together than the Dana, but those are the only 2 I've used so I can't speak for anything else.

Hi All,

As far as I know there is not a standard. Most sliders use RollOn or Igus profile while others just designed and pick a gauge which is mostly suiting their design.

I have designed my TwinDolly and TwinTube based on regular stage/rigging truss with adjustable wheel to accommodate the use of the dolly on truss of most 29 cm (or 1 foot).

Hopefully this answers your question.

I don't think there is really a standard distance but having said that, the wider the distance the more stability you can get and less chance for it to topple over which has happened with many users of the Dana Dolly or similar designs.

I noticed you are in Montreal and saw the F55 on your website? Do you shoot with one? I am in the Toronto area and have had my F55 for about a year now... great camera.

No standard!

Thank you everyone, very helpful.

Dennis, I don't own a F55 yet... I'm wait for a project to support the investment.

I shoot mostly documentaries and unfortunately producers keep requesting the C300.
