Friedemann Wachsmuth
Hey all, I recently found some cans of pretty obscure Kodak DS8 (Double Super 8) stock, including this one: Yes, I know Plus-X, but I never heard of 7726. Can anybody decipher these numbers? Does the "TV" in the name mean that the base or the emulsion are somehow different? Is there any clue when this was manufactured? Thanks all! Premium Member Adrian Sierkowski Posted June 26, 2014 Premium Member Share Posted June 26, 2014 Well it's pretty old, but kodak used to make TV specific formats which were slightly pointless. It's a b/w stock, and in all honesty was probably just about the same aw any other vintage b/w stock.
Joerg Polzfusz
Why is the loading-advice in French? Was the whole film "Made in France"?
Premium Member Adrian Sierkowski Posted June 26, 2014 Premium Member Share Posted June 26, 2014 No, but French was a common lingua franca for a long while and as such many things are still printed in french as well as spanish and english.
Friedemann Wachsmuth
Actually I got this film from italy -- and am in Germany myself :) Wasn't Kodak making film in france back in the days? I thought so...
Premium Member Simon Wyss Posted June 29, 2014 Premium Member Share Posted June 29, 2014 Kodak FRANCE began manufacturing amateur film products in 1963. Your film has been made in Chalon-sur-Saône, Burgundy. Plus-X reversal was an emulsion redesigned for less silver in 1957. The silver assault had been prepared years ahead. It was pulled in 1964. Friedemann Wachsmuth
Thanks, Simon! (and you shouldn't call yourself dirtbags!)
Charlie Peich
There was TRI-X 7727 also. Very little to none on the net about 7726 and 7727.
