Greg Boris
I'm pretty sure I'm using 3/4 course thread drywall screws for drilling baseplates into pancakes but I can't seem to find any around town. The standard Home Depot, Lowes, Menards, etc don't have anything shorter than 1" in coarse thread and I am even having a hard time finding anything less than a 3000pc box online. Any ideas? Zac Fettig
If you can make do with 1" screws, there's always McMaster: http://www.mcmaster.com/#tapping-screws/=svl7yb
Greg Boris
Thank you but 1" will not work. Even with the thickness of a baseplate a 1" could pass through the wood, especially when drilling through 3/4ply, scags, and cribbing. Zac Fettig
Do they need to be drywall screws? Or will any self-tapping screw work? I'm assuming this is for wood, so a wood screw should work just as well (unless you're really close to the breaking point of the screws).
John David Miller
I just get coarse thread wood screws for 3/4" and smaller. Most dry wall is 1/2"-5/8" thick which doesn't leave much purchase for a screw thats 3/4" long. This makes a "drywall screw" at a length of 3/4" a rare item to find.
