Paul Brenno
How do you adjust brightness of viewfinder ? I was shooting this past weekend, never could get the brightness up.....
Stuart Brereton
You don't. There are no brightness or contrast controls for either the EVF or Red Monitors. I have no idea why.
Premium Member Satsuki Murashige Posted August 26, 2014 Premium Member Share Posted August 26, 2014 There are controls for brightness on the Red Touch LCD and Bomb EVF. The little triangle user keys on the side of the LCD are mapped to brightness up/down by default, and the Bomb EVF you should be able to adjust thru the menus. I haven't used the original Red EVF or Red One/MX for several years, but as I recall you can adjust the brightness through the menus as well. You should really go to Red.com and download the user manuals for this type of question.
Paul Brenno
I already did....
Stuart Brereton
There is no menu control for EVF brightness that I have ever been able to find, either on the RED One or the Epic. The touch screen LCD does have a Brightness control. The original RED monitor did not.
Paul Brenno
I looked and the left side of viewfinder, see circlular controls for B/W, CU focus check, but third circle (on top) appears to do nothing (??) I also looked at viewfinder menu; DAR, VAR, plus ISO and Ch 1 and 2. This is all I see....this is the first time using RED ever, so very new to it... Stuart Brereton
Paul, there is no way of adjusting the viewfinder. RED, in their wisdom, decided that it wasn't necessary for people to have an accurate representation of what they were shooting...
Freya Black
... because they are shooting raw. Freya Edited September 9, 2014 by Freya Black
Paul Brenno
I emailed a RED rep, he said you needed to adjust brightness of viewfinder in the control menu, the buttons on viewfinder are for the external monitor....
Stuart Brereton
... because they are shooting raw. Freya Which is monitored in some variant of Rec.709, which should be viewed on a calibrated monitor or VF.
Paul Brenno
Thanks for all your inputs.....I've seen many shooting on RED, they ALL use monitors....frustrating to NOT be able to use the viewfinderm since I'm an eyepiece shooter
