@Phil.

Shocking. A member of the commonwealth that clearly didn't grow up using redheads from an early age.

I've had some of those $15 worklights in the garage/workshop. They seem a bit fiddley, mechanically awkward and unreliable. You could use them easily for certain things in production, but replacing a redhead with that seems unrealistic. Redheads, the barndoors are usefull, the flood/spot can be usefull. Good bulbs give good color. And depending on where you are they can be cheap. I bought one 2 years ago with a Matthews stand for NZD62 (USD50). It needed the internal wiring refreshed (fed some more in from the lead) and was good to go. They sell here now and again for about $100.

So I have to say, that if you could buy several stands, flags, lots of good gloves for that they would be some really shitty stands, flags and gloves, may not even exist.

So I have to stick up for the humble redhead. And Roger Deakins likes them, so they must be good.
