Robbie Fatt
Hey can anyone tell me what lighting fixtures these are used in the movie "Non-Stop"?
Premium Member David Mullen ASC Posted January 2, 2015 Premium Member Share Posted January 2, 2015 Looks like Kino Flathead 80's in the ceiling... http://www.kinoflo.com/Products%20Button/Fixtures%20Remote/Flathead/Flathead.html Though it's possible that it is some other manufacturer's version of it. Robbie Fatt
Thanks David! I'm guessing these fixtures are very common for fluorescent building interiors?
Premium Member David Mullen ASC Posted January 3, 2015 Premium Member Share Posted January 3, 2015 They are a bit heavy to rig to a ceiling; the key grip must have found some support beams hidden inside the drop ceiling to clamp and safety chain onto. Normally you'd use the lighter 4' 4-bank Kino but even that is pushing things weight-wise if your only mounting option is clipping it to the drop ceiling frame with clips; ideally you'd still find some internal support to rig off of, or use a piece of wood with a baby spud plate mounted in the center and then rest the wood across the top of the drop ceiling, etc.
Premium Member David Mullen ASC Posted January 3, 2015 Premium Member Share Posted January 3, 2015 The Flathead 80 is in a metal box but the 4' 4-bank Kino has a plastic-coated cardboard-type backing that keeps it lightweight.
