Pan's Labyrinth

Recommended Posts

I'm wondering if anyone knows how they lit a lot of the exteriors from the movie Pan's Labyrinth. There is a lot of beautiful halo light and I am wondering whether they used fixtures to mimic sunlight or they just used the sun as the actual source. There seems to be lots of 'hot spots' in the background.

Also, was the weird stuff in the air created on set or in post? It looks like it was done in post.

Looks like the actual sunlight to me.

The "floaties" in the woods were probably done practically, it's been done before -- the first movie I saw it in was "Legend", though movies had floated flower petals and other things before, like the ride through the flowering trees in "Excalibur".

But in "Legend" they used chopped-up feathers and a wind machine and that's probably what was done here.
