Tim Schroeder Posted January 21, 2015 Share Posted January 21, 2015 Hello, I've been color correcting/grading with cliptoolz color for awhile now, but I've run into a few issues: First off I don't fully understand waveforms, histograms and scopes in general. I know how to read them in a basic sense, but that's not really working in the results I'm trying to get. Second, I'm shooting an a Sony a6000 in AVCHD, and I don't know how to correct/grade with AVCHD without having digital artifacts after de-noising. Lastly, The computer I'm editing on is a dell laptop with Win 8 with a resolution of 1600 x 900 (not ideal I know, but it's the best I have to work with for the time being) so everything is SUPER de-saturated until I plug it in to a 1080p HD television which then the colors turn out alright. But it has me concerned that when I finally render it it will not look how I intended it to. No I cannot upgrade software, cash is tight. Any advice on the matter? Brian Drysdale Posted January 21, 2015 Share Posted January 21, 2015 When grading you need a correctly set up monitor, it sounds like your laptop may not be. There are a number of on line videos about doing colour correction, it would be worth while googling them and finding out if the processes used make sense.
