Haris Mlivic
Sometimes I see the Zeiss Standard Speeds marked as either mk1 och mk2. Does anybody know the difference? I thought the standards were only the standards.I know there are mk1, mk2, mk3 in the Super Speed series, and I know the difference between them already, but standards? anybody? Tuomas Viitakoski
Tjäna Haris,It's been a while you posted this but the main differences between the versions are in the mechanical design and coatings. Here's some observations I've made about Super Speeds - or High Speeds (depending who you ask from):MKI / ARRIFLEX Zeiss Opton T1.4-T11- with ARRI bayonet, can be adapted to PL-mount with a proper adapter- less iris blades resulting in very noticeable triangular bokeh- no standard 0.8 pitch gears on iris or focus (usually retrofitted)- both metric and imperial markingsMK2 / ARRIFLEX Zeiss T1.3-T16- new mechanical design- PL-mount- more iris blades resulting in more conventional roundish bokeh- factory-installed 0.8mm pitch gears on both iris and focus- both metric and imperial markings- improved lens coatings- found in ARRI LDAMK3 / ARRIFLEX Zeiss T1.3-T16- new mechanical design- PL-mount- iris blades resulting in more conventional roundish bokeh- factory-installed 0.8mm pitch gears on both iris and focus- either metric or imperial markings- improved lens coatings - found in ARRI LDAI was going to add that you should contact your local rental house e.g. Ljud & Bildmedia for further information but according to your instagram feed you've done it already :)https://instagram.com/p/3gkxu_LNIc/What were the results in your testing?Tuomas
Haris Mlivic
Moi Tuomas! Thanks for your reply, but I was wrote in the post I already know the difference between Super Speeds mk1, mk2 and mk3. its fairly well documented on the web. Im looking for information on the Standard Speeds, the T2.1 version. Let me know if you find anything on those.Regarding the test on the 20mm lenses on my instagram, it ended up being pretty esthetical one. The results were basically me picking a lens for the project without writing anything down :) lazy I know... think we went with the Schneider because it covered dragon 6k @ 18mm somewhat better than the other lenses. The shoot was pretty technical.
Premium Member Dom Jaeger Posted October 16, 2015 Premium Member Share Posted October 16, 2015 The Mk1 Standard Speeds are the small barrelled ones with Bayonet mount and very early coatings. They look completely different to the later versions, which look more like the Super Speeds.

Haris Mlivic
I don't think so... there were some rehousings made that kind of looked like mk3, but I'm pretty sure I've never seen or read about mk3 anywhere...
