Premium Member Bill DiPietra Posted October 6, 2015 Premium Member Share Posted October 6, 2015 For those who've never heard of her, Chantal Akerman was primarily an experimental filmmaker with notable work in the 70s and 80s. Her films made a big impression on me when I first saw them. The article states the cause of death is unknown as of right now... http://www.nytimes.com/2015/10/07/arts/chantal-akerman-belgian-filmmaker-dies-65.html?smid=tw-nytimesarts&smtyp=cur&_r=1&utm_content=buffercf035&utm_medium=social&utm_source=twitter.com&utm_campaign=buffer

Dirk DeJonghe
I had the pleasure to work with the original DoP Caroline Champetier AFC on her film 'Tout une Nuit' (Night and Day in English) for grading a television version. I never met Chantal Akerman, she was about my age, but when I saw her films I always had the feeling that she made the films I would have made if I would have gone in that direction. Strange but true.
