Red Epic settings suggestions

Jorge Regula

Recommended Posts

Hello, I will shooting a music video on a stage with a white backdrop. It was originally gonna be a 5d shoot but Last minute a red epic has become available however I am not as knowledgeable with this camera...

Can someone explain the distinction between 2k and 2k hd? Any basic camera setting suggestions for highest quality 2k images?

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

Don't shoot 2K, that crops the sensor to a 16mm area and gets you more noise and softness unless you are going for that look.

Minimally, you could shoot 4K HD, which is 3840 x 2160 on the Dragon sensor (but still only a 19.19mm x 10.79mm area of the sensor), designed to downsample simply to 1920 x 1080.

Or 4.5K HD, 5K HD, 5.5K HD, etc. (Basically all 16x9 aspect ratios.)

Would this mean that certain PL lenses for 16mm would no longer display any vignetting?

Macks ... there are quite a few camera,s that have this centre crop function.. the Sony F5/55 always had it.. the Fs7 now does with the latest firmware and the Amira also with the recent up date of a couple months ago.. C300II does only for high speed..

It can be a handy digital zoom too,as long as your shooting HD.. off the 4K sensor..
