Mark Simakovsky
I'm about to buy my first FSI and I'd like some advice. I can't find a very clear description of the differences between the AM, BM, CM, and DM lines. I'd like to know what makes the smaller 17" CM model more expensive than the 21" AM model. Also would love to hear people's opinions on other good field monitors in this size and price range.
Premium Member Satsuki Murashige Posted July 2, 2016 Premium Member Share Posted July 2, 2016 Have you checked the documentation on the Flanders site? http://www.flandersscientific.com/ Basically, the 17" CM is a true 10bit monitor, so it can display 1 billion+ colors. Good for color grading and for DITs working in a controlled environment, but overkill as a field monitor or a director's monitor. The 21" BM and AM are 8bit monitors capable of only 16 million+ colors, good enough for most field applications but not preferable for grading. But they are cheaper and larger.
