Negative insurance

Yes, it's insurance for the film negative. This is to protect the production so if there is any damage or loss to the negative, they can file a claim to help pay for reshoots.

 

These sort of policies exist on film sets for actors as well. For instance, if an actor is injured or sick during a production and can't work, there is a policy to cover re-shoot dates.
