Premium Member Mark Kenfield Posted February 8, 2017 Premium Member Share Posted February 8, 2017 Just recently, I finally got around to watching Almodóvar's 'The Skin I Live In', which had been on my list for a while. I thought it was brilliant allround. But I was particularly smitten by José Luis Alcaine's exquisite photography on the picture. I don't know how to describe the style other than as 'neo-classical', as there was a great deal of direct key light (often slightly softened), and kickers and backlights everywhere. It looked absolutely sumptuous, and yet didn't feel in anyway distractingly unnatural during the daytime exteriors, which were lit far more modernly/conventionally. I was wondering how other people found it?
Freya Black
I think you are spot on Mark. Whenever I watch anything directed by Pedro Almodovar I find myself thinking about the beautiful cinematography. Freya
