Arri SR-3 Power Draw

Hi,

I wanted to share the following measurements I did on my SR-3 camera package. Might come handy when you're trying to determine your battery needs and expected turnaround on set, and/or for those who have battery recell projects like me currently.

. Idle: 0.09A

. Idle + IVS: 0.40A

. 24fps: 0.35A

. 24fps + IVS: 0.67A

. 75fps: 0.65A

. 75fps + IVS: 1.01A (2.00A peak charge at start)

. Idle + RCU-1: 0.12A

. 24fps + RCU-1: 0.38A

. 24fps + IVS + RCU-1: 0.72A

. 75fps + IVS + RCU-1: 1.05A

Best,

Toto

Hi Toto,

Thanks for taking the time to post your measurements!

Can I ask if you measured the current draw with a loaded mag, an empty mag or just the body? It makes a little bit of difference I've found. My (possibly faulty) memory of SR3 specs is a draw of about half an amp with a 400' load at 24fps.

A simple way to remember the accessory draw is that an IVS basically draws about a third of an amp regardless of camera settings, while an RCU unit pretty much draws nothing.

Hi and thanks for your response,

I did the measurements with an attached empty mag. The measurements would be different with actual film in there and thank you for asking for clarification. I might find expired film and redo the tests then, I'll update this post when I do so.
