Dunkirk - they made all of the Imax release prints from the original negative?

Recommended Posts

This artile says that all of the Imax release prints were made from the orignal negative?

I dont get it. How they edited the movie? They cut the original negative?

It doesn't say anything about editing. There are a couple of threads about the printing on the forum already. Yes, prints were made from OCNs, but some printing was via IPs and INs in order to combine 5/70 and 15/70 material.

The scanned the negative, edited the film, the cut the negative, they cut in the 5/65 material and they struck prints off the original negative. They made answer prints to test the color and once that worked, they can easily make prints right off the negative. It was a very common process with large format.
