Xavier Zurita
Hello there! Have anybody worked with this situation? What would be better for skin tones? Tungsten or HMI? What would be better for keying? I was choosing HMI for the amount of power instead of tungstens units Cheers! Xavier Zurita
Premium Member Adrian Sierkowski Posted August 7, 2017 Premium Member Share Posted August 7, 2017 If digital, as it's natively around 5600K balanced on the chip, I recommend daylight heads. If you're on film; then I recommend whatever the balance of the film is. Consequently, Green screen is substantially better for digital as it's the most abundant "color" on a bayer chip and blue screen for film as it's the sharpest layer.
Xavier Zurita
Adrian, Thanks for your reply, it has to be blue because of the colors of the wardrobe that definitively will carry some green items, also will work in digital. Thanks
Premium Member Adrian Sierkowski Posted August 7, 2017 Premium Member Share Posted August 7, 2017 My pleasure; and yeah, Blue works fine for digital as well just one of those little added knowledge bits lol. Been awhile since i've seen/done BluScr though (cept when i'm on a windows 98 machine lol)
Premium Member David Mullen ASC Posted August 7, 2017 Premium Member Share Posted August 7, 2017 However blue is also the grainiest layer on tungsten-balanced film, another argument for daylight-balance for both digital and film for chromakey...
