Converting 220v editor to USA?

I bought 2 editors from Europe. (Zeiss Moviscops) The only issue with them is they are 220v. They only had 2 wires in the 220v plug, so I thought it would a simple thing to exchange the plug to USA style. While they did light up, the bulb only gives off half the light it should and picture is hardly visible.

Any advice on how to make them brighter?

Thanks

The bulb is only getting half its designed voltage, so it will run at half the Watts, hence brightness.

Solutions might be to source 110V bulbs, hopefully the easy solution, or a small transformer with 220/240V output.

Make sure there isn't a 240/110V switch somehere on the machine first.

The bulb is low-voltage fed through a transformer, not mains voltage.
