Buy / Canon Scoopic / ARRI SR / Aaton XTR-PROD / Bolex Sbm

Recommended Posts

Ebay has a few Arri's, I suppose you know that each camera you've mentioned is different. The Scoopics and Bolex cameras are great cameras, but very loud and not ideal for filming dialogue, in addition the Scoopics can't be modified to Super 16. The Arri's and Aaton's are quiet running, larger film capacity and professional lens systems, most are Super 16. They are ideal for filming narratives, but they can be more expensive especially these days as prices of 16mm cameras are going up.

The market for Bolex's and Scoopic's is entirely different then SR3's and XTR's. You can buy Bolex's and Scoopic's for peanuts if you look hard enough. SR3's and XTR's are nearly impossible to find these days. Resellers have waiting lists for them right now and there aren't more used cameras hitting the market as rental houses have mostly sold theirs off. So the pricing is skyrocketing at the moment.

Out of curiosity, what's the avarage price for a XTR, XTR-plus or XTR-prod if you do manage to find a seller?

Last complete serviced XTR Prod I saw was 5600 Euro's.

There was one that had a buy now and sold on ebay in minutes that went for $3500? But it was incomplete sadly.

The filmcamera's are still around and for sale. The condition of them is often not good. As Tyler said the price is going up but the camera's need more service to have them working properly. This also adds to the price. Luckily here are some people still able to service them.
