Daniel D. Teoli Jr.
Compared to old acetate film is the estar film base a static dust magnet? I have only tried white estar or mylar white leader and it picks up dust and dirt like mad. The acetate leader does not. I'm wondering if film is the same or does film have an anti-static coating? Premium Member Simon Wyss Posted July 17, 2018 Premium Member Share Posted July 17, 2018 The taking films have antistatic layers incorporated, No comparison of blank leader to dedicated camera stocks.
Daniel D. Teoli Jr.
OK, thanks. Too bad they don't make the 16mm plastic leader the same. It is an unbelievable dust magnet. I switched over to Kodak acetate leader. It is a lot more $. About $50 per 1000 feet more than plastic leader.
Premium Member Frank Wylie Posted July 17, 2018 Premium Member Share Posted July 17, 2018 Don't use the plastic leader; it will go vinegar much, much faster than acetate stock.
