Kavish Agrawal
Learnt from the films featurette that the location they used for shooting the House of Representatives did not allow them to rig lights inside, everything was lit from the windows. How do you think is the face-light done here? Love the lensing used here for the face and how the background is constructed with the higher floor(Lincolns wife is sitting there, there is an exchange of look between the two characters in this scene)
Premium Member David Mullen ASC Posted September 3, 2018 Premium Member Share Posted September 3, 2018 I think they used some small lights inside, just not rigged to the building. David
Premium Member David Mullen ASC Posted September 3, 2018 Premium Member Share Posted September 3, 2018 They could also projected a hard light across the room from a window and then put a diffusion frame just off camera for his face. And if they were allowed cameras in the room then they were allowed diffusion frames and if they were allowed diffusion frames and bounce cards, they were allowed small lights. Premium Member David Mullen ASC Posted September 3, 2018 Premium Member Share Posted September 3, 2018 Rigging means mounting the light to the architecture which is often not allowed in historic buildings, but often things like balloon lights are allowed. Giacomo Girolamo
I believe that sometimes uses cranes outside the windows too.

Thanks David! Yeah seems like a diffusion near the camera and a large original source far away!!
