Fabric For Wall Illusion?

On my last shoot I was trying to play around with some part spandex fabric I had stretched to a 6x6.

Straight up on the fly I was like "let's do the weird shape thing from Elm Street"

However when me and another guy on set started playing around, we weren't getting anything nearly as shapely. Can anyone point me to the proper fabric or spandex ratio to achieve the hard shapes?

I'm aware that hard lighting will also have something to with it, but when I shined a 650 at an 85 degree angle all we were seeing was the tip of the nose and little mounds which barely looked like hands, so I feel like the fabric I used was incorrect.

Thanks
