Chris Burke
I am considering purchasing a Gemini recorder. The only question I have is about the SSDs. Are new Convergent Design SSDs backward compatible with this recorder? Could I use a third party drive? I see that BHPhoto has the chassis for these drives available for sale separately. Also, I know that it records DPX, but can it record to any other codec? I do realize that this is limited to HD res only, but it will be for a F3 and it is unused old stock for very cheap, so why not. My only concern is the media. Premium Member Mark Kenfield Posted September 23, 2018 Premium Member Share Posted September 23, 2018 I'm pretty sure it's DPX (or raw) only. From memory, I think there was mention of adding DNxHD eventually, but I don't think that ever happened. Also, I'm 97% sure the Gemini only works with it's proprietary media. So I'd definitely contact CD directly to ask them whether their current drives are backwards compatible.
