I think David Mullens is the best new cinematographer for being humble enough to offer all his knowledge in these forums.

In this day and age, someone experienced and talented like David - who is incredibly busy - who takes time to educate young people and give invaluable advice is worthy of any kind of recognition. I know for myself that if not these kinds of forums and people who inhabit them I'd have the hardest time in tryinig to get advice from anyone of those fat-ass cats at film-schools or the "industry".

After "Northfork", the Polish Brothers were supposed to make a 15 million dollar movie for Miramax so I joined the union for that, only to have the project fall apart. But six months later I was shooting "D.E.B.S." which went union in the first week.

The director of the thesis film I'm currently DPing came over and forced me to watch D.E.B.S. Saturday night, and I must say I was entertained beyond all belief. Beautiful. Shooting that must have been so much fun!

Guest Alexandre Lucena

Why do we need to establish the best cinematographer in the world? Cinematography as in any other form of art there is no best in the world. In a swimming competition there is certainly the fastest in the world...If one were to choose the best cinematographer in the world woud he or she be the one the uses the largest kilowatt

lighting schemes or should he or she shoot in 65mm. Who is the best painter in the world Picasso or Vincent Van Gogh?
