Max Field
I'm trying to get a 35mm super speed onto a Canon 5D mark2 with the proper back focus. Has anyone done this combination before who remembers what shims they used? I saw Zeiss' general guide and couldn't really figure it out. Thanks. Premium Member Dom Jaeger Posted January 20, 2019 Premium Member Share Posted January 20, 2019 If the CP.2 is in EF mount it should already have the right back-focus shimming. You'll find different lenses have different shims because of manufacturing tolerances - they're individually calibrated, so you can't just go off another lens. The camera itself could also have a slight discrepancy. If the lens lines up with its focus marks (with aperture wide open), it doesn't need adjusting. If the marks read under the distance (ie at 6 ft the subject is sharp with the lens set to say 5' 6), then the lens is too close to the sensor and you need to add shims. If the marks read over, the lens is too far away from the sensor and you need to remove shims. Start with a small shim and note how much the focus scale shifts. You will probably need to add or subtract shims a few times to get it right. The shim thicknesses are colour coordinated so you can change shim combinations to make any adjustment.
Max Field
Thanks, yeah I put in a thin silver one cause I saw some other forum mention something like that but it ended up taking away my infinity focus.
