John Xuan Pham
Hey everyone, my name is John Pham and I am fairly new to the world of cinematography. I currently shoot using my iPhone XS Max with an Osmo mobile 2, Moment Anamorphic lens and Rode VideoMicro. I wanted to see if there were any other iPhone users out there who might have a similar set-up and wanted to connect as I'm sure we don't encounter the same issues as DSLR and Cine cam operators do. I have been having issues with quality when exporting the anamorphic footage from Premiere to Instagram and was hoping someone may know what export settings to use as I've searched and searched and have not been able to find specific export settings for iPhone anamorphic footage. Or I have yet to find it.
Daniel D. Teoli Jr.
Hello! I saw Tangerine and was impressed with what he did with his phone video. Sean Baker talks about it here: They have some iPhone video groups, they may be a better help for you. Send in some of your footage when you get it polished up. Good luck! Robin R Probyn
I believe it is now illegal to use an iPhone instead of a real camera..
Phil Connolly
In terms of export settings isn't it a 1.33X squeeze? So when exporting you just multiply the horizontal by 1.33 So 1920 x 1080 becomes 2554 x 1080 https://www.shopmoment.com/momentist/4-easy-ways-to-de-squeeze-anamorphic-footage
Premium Member Tyler Purcell Posted June 10, 2019 Premium Member Share Posted June 10, 2019 Yea it is a 1.3x squeeze, same as 1.78:1 digital imager cameras. iPhone's shoot great with the specialty app's, but pretty poorly with the build-in app.
