Terminator 2: Judgement Day, Opening Scene

Recommended Posts

There is a shot in the opening scene that is absolutely amazing. Its the one where the only thing you see is crowded four lane freeway. Ever since I saw the film 20 years ago been intrigued by this specific shot. Soooo Im in LA right now and want to go there. Does anyone know where this is? I even brought my 16mm a-cam to try and recreate it!!!

Well, I know LA pretty good and that center divider doesn't exist anymore anywhere in LA today. They've cleaned up the highways quite a bit since then, so since it's a tight shot, it's super hard to give a definitive answer. The only "clue" is the raised breakdown lane. That's pretty common on the 405 and on the 5 in some places, but a 4 lane highway is kinda rare these days, there are only a few spots like that left. Nearly all the highways today use jersey barriers in the center. So it's not easy.... I hope someone else may know!
