Michal Kedracki
Hi guys, I'm shooting a night scene on C300 Mark I in Clog soon, and after researching the camera I have found out that a lot of operators like to overexpose 1 stop while working in Clog. On the other hand, because it's a night scene I was thinking about underexposing it a stop or 2. Are the benefits of overexposing it for post worth it? Lucas Henkel
I believe that practically everyone here will argue that it's better to overexpose film than to underexpose it. In your case, I'd argue so as well since if you get a flat scan of the negative, darkening it in a video editor shouldn't be difficult, and on top of this, you get the added benefit of shadow details which would've been likely exceptionally murky and grainy if underexposed.
