Jaron Hickerty
Hey guys, I'm trying to find more resources for research and development. What magazines, websites, forums, YouTube channels, and so on, do you subscribe to to stay up to date?
Abdul Rahman Jamous
well, perhaps before starting researching about cinematography you need to know photography very well. Scott Kelby's wrote a four volume book called "Scott Kelby's Digital Photography" and it's an excellent way to start your research and to get familiar with the essential terms that you need to know. If you really want to do your research about cinematography than subscribing ASC magazine is a must. also reading "american cinematographer manual" might be an absolute necessity. Of course YouTube is a great source for research and each topic has at least 10 videos about it. but before you go to YouTube you need to know the essentials so you can recognize the valuable from the garbage. Also you have to ask your seniors for advice... and remember what we do is a craft not a science, yes it's very important to know the information and to do your research, but also you have to give yourself time so you may truly digest what you did learn.
